In-Practice Warfarin Monitoring Clinics

Weekly INR Clinics are held, Nurses take a blood sample, obtain an INR value and prescribe appropriately.

The new point of care monitoring system is in use for patients' INR Blood Tests.

Practice Nurses Chris Schofield and Maria Rudkin attended a Masters Degree Level Module at Birmingham University for training in using the specialist equipment, and to gain a greater understanding of anticoagulation theory and practice. Congratulations to both nurses who each achieved 90%+ in the final examinations.

Child Health Clinics with Health Visitor

Every Tuesday 13.30 -15.00 at the Billingborough Surgery.

  • Antenatal & Postnatal Checks
  • Astham & COPD Clinics (Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease) Clinics. A dedicated Practice Nurse holds weekly Respiratory Clinics, by appointment.
  • Baby & Child Development Checks & Childhood Immunisations. Routine examinations of children are carried out at 8 weeks of age and patients notified of subsequent childhood immunisations due.
  • Cervical Smears. Cervical smears are routinely performed by a Practice Nurse by (double) appointment. Cervical smear test results are automatically forwarded to the patient.
  • Diabetes Management & Monitoring. Regular review of diabetes results in improved control and a reduction in complications. A dedicated Practice Nurse carries out full examinations and regular control checks.
  • Family Planning & Emergency Contraception. Practice Doctors and Nurses can provide advice on all aspects of family planning, including oral contraceptives, coils, caps, implants, injections and sterilisation. Please book a routine appointment with a Practice Nurse, in the first instance. Teenage Sexual Health advice and Screening is also available. Emergency Contraception appointments are available with a Doctor or Nurse.
  • Heart Disease, Stroke Prevention & Hypertension Monitoring.
  • Health Promotion & Dietary Advice.
  • Minor Surgery
  • Travel Immunisations & Clinic. Please complete a 'Travel Details' form, available at Reception. The Practice Nurse will then contact you to arrange any necessary immunisations and offer travel advice.
  • Smoking Cessation

Choose & Book Hospital Treatment

Choose and Book is an NHS initiative to allow patients more involvement in taking decisions and making choices about their healthcare. If your doctor refers you for further/secondary care, you will be informed by of your choice of hospital/healthcare provider. You are now able to choose where to have further specialist treatment from a list of hospitals or clinics. The Hospital Providers and the Services available are shown in the 'Choosing your Hospital' booklet, available at the surgeries. You will be given a form with your unique reference details and can book the appointment with the Choose and Book office, by phone.

Telephone Consultations

Doctors are available to be consulted by telephone. If you wish to discuss a medical matter or receive advice, then please ring the surgery. A Doctor will return your call, as arranged with the receptionist. You may be asked to give an indication of what you need to speak to the Doctor about. We are unable to give a specific time when you will be called, please make sure that you are available to take the return call.

Home Visits

If you are housebound or too ill to attend surgery, you can request a home visit. If at all possible, telephone before 10.30am and please try to make an appointment rather than request a home visit.
