News From The Practice
February 2012

Our February Newsletter is written by the Practice Manager and is aimed at providing our patients with an insight into what is happening within the practice.
New Staff
We would first like to welcome our new District Nurse Sarah Hall RGN, BSc (Hons) Palliative Care (University of Nottingham), BSc (Hons) Community Specialist (Sheffield Hallam). Sarah did her initial Nurse Training at the University of Nottingham. Sarah is based in the surgery on Tuesday and Thursday and can be contacted on 01529 240840.
Dr Kaisira Mughal will commence with the Practice as a GP Registrar in April 2012 under the supervision of Dr Jonathan Parry.
Dr Julie Keeling will complete her GP training in August 2012. Elizabeth Mitchell has joined the Practice as a Receptionist to work at Rippingale in a Monday and Wednesday.
Building Plans
The Practice is redecorating the waiting room in February. The majority of the work involved will take place during the weekends with the aim of causing no disruption to patients.
The Practice population continues to increase, in response to this the Practice is again commencing building work. A rear extension will start in February. This will include an additional consulting room and medication preparation room. This extension should be completed by May 2012.
Patient Participation Group
The Patient Participation Group (Medical Equipment Fund) were very active at Christmas. The Christmas raffle and coffee morning raised £1070 with grateful thanks to all who contributed to a very successful occasion.
Thank You

The Patient Participation Group were presented with a £1700 cheque from a very grateful family (picture courtsey of the Grantham Journal). This money will be used by the District Nurses to purchase a "syringe driver" which is a continuous pain relief device used in the final days of life to alleviate pain and keep patients as comfortable as possible. Our grateful thanks are extended to the family. The Practice has purchased a photograph which will be framed and displayed within the Practice.
Practice Survey
A meeting will be held on 15th March 2012, where the results will be outlined and an Action Plan in response to the Practice Survey will be discussed. The Practice is keen to hear the views of patients. The meeting will start at 6.30pm - 7.30pm
Late Night Opening
The Surgery at Billingborough is open until 8pm on a Tuesday. This late availability of appointments to see a Doctor of Nurse is primarily aimed at patients who work or are in Education during sthe normal working day. Further details can be found within this website.
Automatic Patient Check-in
The Practice has an automatic check-in facility in the foyer. This is quick and easy to use. It alerts the Doctors or Nurses you are waiting to see them.
Patients Not Attending Appointments
If you have made an appointment to see a Doctor of Nurse and no longer require this appointment would you please respectfully contact the Practice to cancel it. This would allow another patient to have that appointment. The rate of patients not attending for pre-booked appointments is still too high.
